A registered investment advisor is a firm engaged in the investment advisory business and registered either with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) or state securities authorities. A Registered Investment Advisor is defined by The Investment Advisers Act of 1940 as a “person or firm that, for compensation, is engaged in the act of providing advice, making recommendations, issuing reports or furnishing analyses on securities, either directly or through publications.” An investment advisor has a fiduciary duty to his or her clients, which means that he or she has a fundamental obligation to provide suitable investment advice and always act in the clients’ best interests.

  • Yes, but not everyone offering financial advice is a fiduciary. Only Registered Investment Advisors (RIA) are held to the industry’s highest standards. It is known as their “Fiduciary Duty” and refers to the Investment Advisers Act of 1940.

  • Yes! We offer an Initial Complimentary Consultation. This meeting gives us both the opportunity to get to know each other and determine if we’re a good fit. During this consultation, we’ll discuss your financial goals, current situation, and how our services might benefit you. It’s also a great time for you to ask any questions you have about our firm and our approach to financial planning.

  • We believe in being completely clear and upfront about our costs. We are a fee-based firm, which means our fees are typically based on a percentage of the investments we manage for you. In some cases, we may charge a flat fee to create a specific financial plan. Before we ever start working together, we will explain exactly how our pricing works so you never have to worry about surprise charges. We do not work on commission. When you succeed, we succeed.

  • Prairie Wealth Advisors aligns its services with clients’ needs. We offer true customization and personalization because we can. We’re flexible and responsive. Our services fall into three broad categories, but you won’t fit neatly into any one of them. They are Wealth Planning (which includes wealth accumulation, protection and transfer), Investment Management and Business, Estate and Multi- Generational Planning. What types of clients do you specialize in? We serve a wide variety of clients from diverse backgrounds and several different industries including business owners/ entrepreneurs, affluent families, foundations/endowments, agriculture, construction and food processing. Many of our clients have interests in hunting, aviation and sailing. What is your investment approach? We listen to our clients and then build an integrated set of solutions that are tailored to each individual, family or business. Our investment approach is value-oriented. We think it is important to see high cash flow yields coming from your investments. We also believe in controlled investment expenses by making sure our clients are not paying unreasonable fees for the services they are provided. We want you to give you peace of mind and something to fall back on.

  • When you see CFP® after a financial advisors name it means that they earned the CFP® certification. It’s mark identifies professionals who have met the high standards of competency and ethics established and enforced by the CFP® Board. CFP® Board’s Standards of Professional Conduct require CFP® professionals to act in their clients’ best interests.

    CPFA stands for a Certified Plan Fiduciary Advisor, a professional credential for financial advisors who specialize in managing employer-sponsored retirement plans like 401(k)s and 403(b)s. The designation is issued by the National Association of Plan Advisors (NAPA). It shows that an advisor understands the strict legal and regulatory rules required to manage workplace retirement plans.

    CFA stands for Chartered Financial Analyst. It is a globally recognized professional designation awarded by the CFA Institute. It measures and certifies the competence, advanced knowledge, and ethical integrity of investment and financial professionals. Widely considered the "gold standard" credential in the investment management industry, it is highly respected by top financial institutions worldwide.
